Looking for newborn photography in Bloomington, IL needn’t be stressful, which is why I do my best to make my clients feel comfortable and at home during their shoots.
There’s a lot to know about newborn photography, but like any other style, you should never select your photographer without first viewing their portfolio.
Newborn Photography: What To Know
Generally speaking, there are two types of newborn photography sessions. Posed/studio sessions occur within the first two weeks of the baby’s birth, as the baby is very sleepy and easily posed. Lifestyle newborn sessions try to capture more natural moments of the baby in its natural environment, and they generally take place up to 6 weeks after the baby is born.
In preparing for a newborn photography session, there are a number of things your photographer should know. They need to know how to “coach” and prepare the parents so they know exactly what to expect. They’ll spend a few days before the session walking parents through a crash course to help the session go as smoothly as possible.
Tips for choosing a newborn photographer
Whoever you choose as your newborn photographer in Bloomington, IL, it’s important that they understand the baby calls the shots - as weird as that may sound. These shoots are geared toward capturing the natural beauty of the baby, which may involve some creativity on the part of the photographer. The shoots will often highlight cute dimples, big and beautiful eyes, a great head of hair, among other features, but it’s up to the photographer to keep the baby comfortable, safe, and warm.
One technique to keep the babies warm and cozy is to utilize a space heater. Photographers can also play white noise or soft music, depending on what the baby seems to prefer. Perhaps most importantly, though, newborn photographers must keep the baby safe. You do not want props or equipment falling over, nor do you want the baby getting loose and hurting itself.
As I mentioned, there’s a lot to know about newborn photography, which is why you shouldn’t choose just anyone. I encourage you to spend some time paging through my portfolio, and I hope you visit my “Get In Touch” page to setup your shoot. I can’t wait to meet you and your little one!
